Our suitcases are a tribute to the pioneering Japanese skaters of the 1980s, who have risen to global prominence, as evidenced by recent Olympic medals in the past decade. Skating has never been welcomed on Japan’s streets, but that hasn’t stopped its growth. Unlike the Californian style, Japanese skaters usually maintain a pristine appearance and “aren’t punks.” And yet, the police are increasingly cracking down, and many areas now display “no skating” signs.
